PUBLIC AFFAIRS LEAD

Job Description

• Advocate for the company’s interests through position papers, and public consultations.
• Develop policy positions and advocacy campaigns aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate with industry associations and coalitions to amplify influence.
• Prepare briefings, submissions, and testimony for government hearings.
• Lead rapid response efforts for regulatory challenges.
• Build and manage strategic relationships with key government agencies, regulatory bodies, and policymakers in Abuja and across Nigeria
• Track and interpret emerging policies that affect fintech, migration, data regulation, and international partnerships
• ⁠Position Vesti as a credible voice in national migration and tech policy spaces
• •Represent Vesti in stakeholder forums, government roundtables, press briefings, and strategic convenings
• ⁠Lead on writing statements, press releases, position papers, and public responses during sensitive issues or regulatory shifts
• Proactively shape Vesti’s public voice in national and international media, especially when policy is on the table
• Identify high-leverage opportunities for Vesti to influence public discourse — policy hearings, whitepapers, events, etc
• ⁠Partner with the communications and legal teams to create messages that align with our brand, protect our licence to operate, and influence key decisions

Qualifications
– Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Law, or related field.

• Experience: 5+ years in public affairs, government relations, or corporate advocacy (private sector, NGO, or government).

Skills:

• Deep understanding of political and regulatory processes.

• Exceptional writing, presentation, and negotiation skills.

• Media relations and crisis management expertise.

• Analytical ability to translate policy into business impact.

• Attributes: Proactive, diplomatic, and adept at managing competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with international/regional policy landscapes.

• Existing network of government/industry contacts.
